Though this was always one of those things that was not necessarily the most fun thing to do, it shouldn't be very complicated.
I had originally been receiving paper statements in the mail and trying to organize paying bills on a convenient time basis without spending too much time on it. I had been using my banking website to do all of my bills.
This worked okay, however I wanted it to do two things:
1) I wanted to tell all of my payees not to send me any more paper statements and reduce the impact on the environment.
2) I wanted one easy to use interface that had all of my due dates where I can see them right in front of me, and quickly and easily pay all of them in one shot.
My banking bill paying system was not able to do this for a number of reasons (the E-bills were terrible and had an incomplete vendor list). I tried out and tested a bunch of different bill paying services such as the following:
CheckFree
Paytrust
The Automatic Millionaire
Quicken
Yodlee
MSN
Basically I tried every bill paying software that I possibly could find when I did a Google search, tried them and determined which one was best for me. What it came down to was that the features of myezbills.com was best.
As you can see from the screen shot below, the site is self is not over glamorous. It does not use any Web 2.0 features, or have any flashy pieces of technology. I think that is one of the great things about the site. I have a feeling that it is a very stable site, and the owners are focused more on a stable back-end and than an overly pretty flashy front end. I consider that very much an advantage over the competition, who did have some flashier sites but it just did not work as well.
Also, every vendor's website that I have for bills of any sort whether it's my ISP, credit card, or anything else "just works". I can pay all my bills and (most important to me), I can see all of my due dates on one screen!
They send an e-mail alert when my e-Bill has arrived and send a status report of the recent activity on my account as well.
Paytrust was almost identical to be fair but I did like the service that I got at myezbills when I spoke with them on the phone.
It really has been that easy. There was only one minor glitch and that had to do with my wife's small business. They were not able to make a check out to be exactly as her company name was listed for some reason. Other than that I have been very very pleased with the service.
